More phone, bigger generator. I will discuss how to setup a solar power for the charging business below.

How To install Solar Power For Phone Charging Business.

First you need to work out how many charging bays you're going to run and what's the maximum wattage they will be using, so you can get an idea of what you're going to use in the form of watt hours per hr then x that by the amount of hours you going to have them running for and what the voltage conversion losses are if there are any then, you can begin to try to work out what you will need as far as panels and batteries. It also depends on the average number of phones and power banks you charge every day, the time you open and close shop, so that you won't get an undersized system. If the shop opens at 7am and closes at 8pm, you just need a battery backup from 5.30 to 8pm. Let's say you charge an average number of 70 phones & power banks, you'll need a minimum of 220A(2x) battery and 1.5kw of solar panels. For example, if you want to setup a 2.5 kva solar system. e.g -:

2.5KVA System

  • 2.5kva Inverter (24V)
  • 2 Units 220ah Tubular Battery
  • 4 Units 300W Mono Solar Panels
  • 60a Charge Controller
  • Cables & Other Accessories.

This quotation might be too hard for newbie to understand, let me break it down in simple english. Phone charger wattage is 10w, charging of 70 phone will consume 700w power. Let say, you can only afford 100ah battery and 300w solar panel. Let's assume you want to start charging phone of 10 pieces for customers, and you can only afford 100ah solar battery, 300w solar panel and 500w or 1000w inverter. 100ah battery has a store power of 1200w/h but you can only make use of 600w/h from it to make the battery last longer if you are using a deep cycle battery. 10w phone charger × 10 pieces will give 100w. 600w/h, half of the store battery power divided by 100 will give 6 hours which means after 6pm in the evening, you can only charge the phone for 6 hours on battery backup using direct multiple USB socket box or 5 hours using inverter due to loss of conversion from DC to AC power. You can charge upto 20 phones or power bank during the day when there is sun e.g from 10am to 5pm. You can use this simple explanation to setup higher solar power for phone charging business, that's if you want to charge more phones and power bank.
